For those who live in a big city, sometimes an escape to nature is just what we need. Over the Fourth of July long weekend we decided to drive out to Pennsylvania for a day in the Pocono Mountains.
At the top of our list was Bushkill Falls, known to some as the “Niagara of Pennsylvania.” This place is quite popular and gets packed so it’s best to get there early, right when they open (9am). We got there around 9:30 and had the place almost all to ourselves.
Once you get in, there are 4 different trails you can take. We took the red one, which is the longest, so we could get a good hike in and see all the waterfalls.
The entire hike took us around 2 hours and was about 2 miles long, with plenty of picturesque waterfalls and stops along the way. I loved seeing all the different wildflowers that grew high up in the trees.
Afterwards we drove to nearby Stroudsburg for lunch at Compton’s Pancake House. Believe it or not, this was my first time ever at a pancake house! I got banana walnut pancakes, which was the perfect way to celebrate Fourth of July.
Excited for many more adventures to come!
