25 Things You Don’t Know About Me

While I try to keep my personal and blogging lives separate, today I’m switching things up a bit and sharing 25 things you don’t know about me! I’ve seen this in magazines with celebrities and it seemed like a fun idea. 🙂 When I first started blogging I never expected to anyone to visit my little corner of the Internet — I’m so grateful for all the support from all over the world and figure it’s time for you all to get to know the face behind Fun Sized Cupcakes! Here we go…

  1. My name is Margaret — I was named by a professor who held a baby naming contest among her students.
  2. I was born three months premature and weighed 2 lbs.
  3. My blog is called Fun Sized Cupcakes because I’m fun sized (~5 ft) and love cupcakes.
  4. I speak 4 languages: English, Chinese, Spanish, and French, and would love to learn all 6 official languages of the UN! Just missing Russian and Arabic.
  5. My Myers-Briggs type is ISFJ but I consider myself an extroverted introvert.
  6. When I was younger I wanted to be an Olympic gymnast, but then I got scoliosis and had to quit the sport. Wearing a back brace from 8th grade to senior year of high school = not fun for all the reasons you can imagine.
  7. I moved to a new town in the middle of 4th grade — on my first day of school, the entire grade was dressed up as explorers. I thought everyone was crazy!! Turns out they were having an explorers simulation that day. The teachers were queens and made me be a princess.
  8. I’m scared of birds! Everything about them freaks me out.
  9. I once performed in Carnegie Hall with my youth orchestra and had a 10 second solo. Ironically, the piece was about birds singing in the morning.
  10. I play three instruments: piano, violin, and carillon, but can’t sing for the life of me.
  11. I studied abroad in Geneva, Switzerland during my junior year of college.
  12. I started my first “blog” when I was 11. It was called Curious Georgina because I was obsessed with monkeys and Curious George at the time.
  13. Growing up, I was kind of a tomboy – the concept of fashion didn’t cross my mind until college! Now I love fashion because it’s a great way to feel confident and express your personality.
  14. I hate wearing makeup and avoid it whenever I can. I pretty much only wear it for special occasions.
  15. I have a great memory when it comes to names and faces. If I meet you once, I’ll remember you. I’m not a stalker, I promise. 😉
  16. I hate working out but love being active, and I’m surprisingly outdoorsy.
  17. I don’t have a celebrity guy crush, but I have so many girl crushes! Seriously, I just want to be friends with them all (and steal their wardrobes). Especially now more than ever, us girls need to build each other up rather than tear each other down!
  18. If I could be on any reality TV show, it would be Project Runway or Dancing with the Stars because I’d love to learn how to make clothes and ballroom dance.
  19. My favorite toy is a stuffed animal tiger I’ve had since I was three. His name is Leo, inspired by the book Leo the Late Bloomer.
  20. I didn’t watch TV until sophomore year of college. The first show I binge watched was Gilmore Girls.
  21. I have the biggest sweet tooth. Cupcakes and macarons are my weakness.
  22. I’m allergic to caffeine and alcohol, and also fruits but only during the summer. If someone knows what’s wrong with me, please do let me know! I can live without caffeine and alcohol, but summer is the best time for fruit and I have FOMO. Ha!
  23. My favorite color depends on my mood, but I love pastels and neutrals.
  24. My dream travel destination is Santorini, Greece.
  25. While I consider NYC home, if I had to live anywhere else in the US it would be San Francisco, just to change things up a little bit. Everyone who first meets me thinks I’m from California and that I give off a Cali vibe… maybe it’s a sign!

Have any fun facts you’d like to share with me? I’d love to get to know you all!
