My Beauty Routine

I’m stepping outside my blogging comfort zone today and sharing with you all my beauty routine! I’m using the term “beauty” very loosely — this will probably be the only beauty post I will ever do, just because it’s not really my thing. I’m about as low maintenance as you can get!

However, something I have learned over the years is the importance of skincare and taking care of your body. As much as I would love to just brush my teeth, wash my face with water, and go straight to bed, unfortunately I can’t do that. I have sensitive combination skin, so finding the right products to use can be difficult. It took many tries, from drugstore products to prescriptions, to find what worked for my skin. While I don’t have it all figured out and still have my fair share of bad skin days, I recently discovered some products that have been working great. I love the results on my skin and am excited to share them with you all!

Daily Skincare:

My friend recommended Korean skincare to me about a year ago, and I absolutely love it. While I started out with something different, I recently switched over to these products and I love the results. Not only do they feel amazing on my skin, but also I have seen actual improvements in my skin texture. While the full Korean skincare regimen is known for being lengthy, I cut it down to these basic essentials:

  1. Every night, I start with a two-step cleansing: first an oil-based cleanser (King’s Berry cleansing oil), and then a water-based cleanser (Neogen green tea foam cleanser). A two-step cleansing is key!
  2. Next, I use a Boscia toner to prep my skin for moisturizing. This toner is amazing – it makes my skin feel sooo soft!
  3. Moisturizing is super important, and I love this snail bee set by Benton. I first use the essence, followed by the lotion. While snail cream may sound gross at first, it’s actually used a lot by celebrities so I convinced myself to give it a try. It actually works super well for acne scars and smoothing out skin.

On the days when I feel like my skin could use a little more care, I use exfoliators or masks. Usually I exfoliate about 1-2 times a week with this Mizon peeling gel, and when I feel like pampering, I use either a tea tree mask, clay mask, or calming mask, depending on what my skin needs. The calming mask is a bit pricey but it’s my favorite, so I get it occasionally to treat myself! Spa nights in bed are a college girl’s dream, am I right? 😉

I almost never wear makeup, unless it’s a special occasion such as a job interview or an event where I have to dress up. If I do wear makeup, I like to keep it as natural as possible. I love this Smashbox CC cream, which has enough coverage for a natural look. When I want a bit more coverage, I use this Nars foundation. Both are great for combination/oily skin — they don’t break me out and I feel like I’m wearing nothing! I use this Bare Minerals brush but I’m sure any quality brush is great.

I’m a big fan of Organix products and I’ve been using them for as long as I can remember (okay, more like 5+ years, which feels like forever). I use the coconut milk shampoo and conditioner but there are many options for different types of hair. I also love their argan oil, which I use for my tips. It works so well that I get my hair cut about once a year, and I never have split ends! This Bumble and Bumble hair oil is also amazing — I got it as a free sample and I absolutely love it. My hair has never felt more soft! To brush my hair I use a Wet Brush, which is great if you have a lot of hair or thick hair like me.

Other Essentials:

Besides the ones mentioned above, the only other products I use are eos lip balm and Vaseline lotion. I’ve tried a bunch of lip balms and lotions but these two are my all time favorites. I take them with me everywhere!

And there you go lovelies – I hope this was helpful! As someone who knows basically nothing about makeup or skincare, I like to keep things as simple as possible. Are there any products that you swear by? Let me know below!
