While I always thought of myself as an uptown girl, I’ve been spending more time downtown this summer, and I must say, I love it. There’s just so much to do!!
A bunch of my friends were in NY over the Fourth of July weekend, so on Sunday we decided to explore downtown, starting from Chelsea and ending in Chinatown.
We started off our day at the New York Flower District, located on W 28th St between 6th and 7th Ave. Imagine walking down a sidewalk lined with walls of plants and flowers, completely blocking out the traffic and hustle and bustle of the city — so peaceful and surreal!
From 28th St we made our way over to the High Line, and walked all the way down to the Meatpacking District. The High Line is one of my favorite places in NYC — there’s just something special about walking through a park over the busy streets of Manhattan.
We met up with some more friends in East Village for brunch, but the wait was too long so we decided to get dessert first. Priorities, am I right? 😉
By the time it was finally our turn for brunch, we were starving! We headed next door to San Marzano, which I highly recommend. The food is both tasty and reasonably priced, and the ambiance is great.
And because we’re total foodies, afterwards we walked over to Little Italy / Chinatown for even more dessert. This cafe called Cha Cha Matcha kept popping up all over my Instagram feed and it looked amazing, so I knew we needed to check it out. Apparently it’s the new it-place (Gigi Hadid and Leonardo DiCaprio have been there!!) and I can totally see why. The vibe, the decor, the food… perfect.
Another thing I love about downtown? All the beautiful street art, like this Love Wall by James Goldcrown.
Heading up to Boston next week for work, and I couldn’t be more excited to go back. See ya later New York, and hellooo Beantown!
